The “River of the Gauls” springs from The Pyrenees, in the majestic Valle de Tena, being fed in its early course by the River Aguas Limpias, which comes down from the wonderful Circo de Piedrafita, and by the River Caldarés, fed by the numerous mountain lakes in the upper Panticosa basin. Some of the higher peaks, such as Balaitous and Infiernos, are home to small glaciers which are currently shrinking quickly.
Our route starts with a tour through some of these places, and from here its jumps to the area of Hoya de Huesca, where the river passes along escorted by the enormous Mallos de Riglos and Mallos de Agüero, in a spectacular setting perfect for canoeing or rafting descents, as well as for climbing and hiking.
